Description

This course is ideal for students entering Calculus AB or BC next fall. It is also a great way to review Calculus A. It will cover all the topics of differential calculus and all background necessary to succeed in Calculus. This course is equivalent to Calculus A.

Topics:

1. Review of functions. Domain and range. Exponential, logarithmic, circular, polynomial, and rational functions

2. The derivative: definition. The derivative at a point. The derivative function. Interpretations of the derivative. Continuity and differentiability.

3. Short-Cuts to Differentiation: Derivatives of power, polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric functions. Product, quotient, and chain rules. Derivative of parametric and implicit equations. Local linearity. L’Hopital’s Rule.

4. Using the First and Second Derivatives. Maxima, minima, intervals of increase and decrease, points of inflection, concavity.
